Teo Martín Motorsport has announced that Martínez will graduate to single-seater racing with one of their Dallara F312 cars
Spaniard Eliseo Martínez will step up to Euroformula Open in 2017 as Teo Martín Motorsport announced the signing late yesterday evening. Martínez, who was born in Eliana (Valencia, Spain), will make his debut in the Formula 3-based series at the age of 16. Eliseo, who is a four-time karting winner in Spain in different categories, has been awarded the “Santander Jóvenes Promesas 2016” scholarship at the last RFEdA ceremony, which was held in Madrid last Friday.
“I really am a passionate about anything with four wheels. Everything surrounding motorsport fascinates me. My learning years in karting have been a true school. At this moment, I feel ready to make the leap from karts to Formula 3 and finally that dream takes shape as I join Teo Martín Motorsport. I will give my maximum on my debut in the series. I don´t put limits on my first year. I want to say thank you to my family for the huge support they have given me and of course thank you also to Emilio de Villota Jr. and other people such as José Manuel Pérez-Aicart, Giancarlo Tinini and Marc Gené. They all taught me so much!”, Martínez said.
On the other hand, Teo Martín explained: “I´m delighted to have Eliseo on board. From my point of view, he is undoubtedly a driver who will make a difference in the future. His talent and his performances in karting really impressed us. I´m sure he will be fast from the very beginning in Formula 3 and we will achieve success together”.
